Ms. Cooper, Teacher at FMMS
Ms. Cooper is a 5th grade teacher at Fort Madison Middle School. Not far from home, she grew up in West Point and attended Marquette, currently she resides in Fort Madison, Iowa. She earned her Bachelors of Science in Education from Western Illinois University, and her Masters in Elementary Education from the University of St. Louis. She has been employed with FMCSD for her entire career. This is her 29th year teaching, and every year brings rewards and challenges but Kerry loves it all!
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, taking walks, and baking. Her hobbies include baking, reading, and decorating! She has many favorite books, but her favorite book to start out the school year is Goblins in the Castle by Bruce Coville, which they read aloud in the classroom! Her favorite movie is Sweet Home Alabama, favorite restaurant is Olive Garden, and she loves any vacation where she can spend time with her family!
Currently she is teaching the new ELA Curriculum in her classroom, and her goal by the end of the year is to have her students navigating the curriculum successfully! She is excited for the 2019-2020 school year because she gets to learn more about her students and she gets to build positive relationships with them as well as watching them grow academically and emotionally as individuals and as groups!
On November 26th, the fifth graders will be decking the halls for the holidays making different crafts to get everything festive for the holidays! Something Ms. Cooper sees everyday is the dedicated educators and individuals in the district that really care about our students and want them to be successful!
