Meet Kristin Arnold – FMHS Nurse

Meet Ms. Arnold, Fort Madison High School Nurse

Kristin Arnold is the Nurse at Fort Madison High School.  Originally from Fairmont, MN; she moved to Hampton, Iowa when she was in 7th grade, and came to Fort Madison six years ago.  Kristin got her Associate Degree in Nursing at North Iowa Area Community College and her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from the University of Iowa.  Previously she has worked at Great River in Burlington in the Intensive Care Unit, FMCH in the Operating Room, and Critical Care at Mercy in Mason City.

In her free time she enjoys watching her kids play sports or participate in band, show choir, and dance.  Her hobbies include crocheting, crafts, and concerts. Her favorite book is Slaughterhouse-Five. Her favorite vacation was her daughter’s Make a Wish trip to Disney, stating it was literally magic! Kristin’s favorite food is the shrimp parmesan from La Tavola.  Something you may not know about her is that she was born on her own mother’s birthday!

Ms. Arnold is excited for this year to grow more comfortable in her role and her goal by the end of the school year is to clean out her file cabinets. In addition to her role as the school nurse, she is a Color Guard and Child Health Fund Sponsor.

She started Roxy’s Rack this summer. It’s a donation-based supply closet for students in need. The donations exceeded her original expectations so she outgrew her original space and is now in the old bloodhound store. Many students have utilized the service so far. She reported, “We are blessed with such generous individuals and businesses in our community.”

Kristin also shared, “This is my third school year, working in a school is a very new environment for me. The best thing I see here, is that every staff member I’ve encountered genuinely cares for our students. I’ve seen them buy them lunch, get them gloves, giving them rides, bring them prom dresses, and so much more. The overall environment is encouraging, positive, and uplifting for students and coworkers. My daughter had heart surgery recently, and the outpouring of support has been incredible! I wouldn’t choose another job!”
