Meet Rich Harlow – FMCSD Transportation

Rich Harlow is a school bus driver for the Fort Madison Community School District. He is currently volunteering for the “Grab and Go” Meals Program. Rich Harlow has been driving school buses off and on since 1970. He has been working for the district for the last ten years. His favorite thing about the job is the children, to see the smiles on their faces.

Rich is on the Lee County board of supervisors. He used to collect neon and electric signs. Rich had over 250 signs, but now he collects good friends instead. His motto is, “it’s better to wear out than rust out.” Rich’s favorite T.V. show is MASH. In addition, his favorite movie is Heaven Help Us. Catcher in the Rye is his favorite book. Rich’s favorite artist is Elvis Presley. He shot off fireworks for the city of Fort Madison for twenty years.

Rich’s favorite road trip was to Lake of Ozarks with his friends. His favorite road trip for the school was taking the students to Six Flags or Adventureland.

Rules on Rich’s bus:

  1. Try to stay in your seat in case I have to stop real fast.
  2. Be nice to each other and helpful.
