Meet Lisa Knipe – Fort Madison Middle School

Lisa Knipe is a band teacher for grades 6-8 at Fort Madison Middle School. She grew up on a farm in Davenport, Iowa and graduated from Davenport West in 1985. Ms. Knipe went to the University of Iowa to receive her undergraduate degree. She then received her master’s in Music Education from Western Illinois University.

Ms. Knipe has been teaching at Fort Madison Middle School for all thirty years of her teaching career. “I enjoy scrapbooking, gardening, sewing, singing in my church choir, directing our bell choir and baking for others. I also enjoy playing my euphonium in the Nauvoo City Band and Co-Directing the Ft. Madison City Band. I really enjoy watching Molly and her teammates perform or play sports! It’s been awesome to watch Joel direct his band students at Keokuk High School the last two years,” said Ms. Knipe.

Currently, Ms. Knipe and her band are preparing for the Denmark Parade on October 10th. She is excited to be able to work in smaller groups during this year while improving her computer skills. Ms. Knipe does the choreography for the color guard corp each year. She also directs the Jazz Band and the show choir band, Fortissimo.

What’s Coming Up in Band?

“The middle school bands will be selling frozen food and gift items in  the month of September.  We will also host our annual Pop Can Drive on Saturday, September 26th.  We will accept any redeemable pop, beer or any size of plastic.  No glass, please.  We will be on the North side of FMMS from 9am – 2pm.  All proceeds will go towards purchasing new instruments and maintaining school-owned instruments,” said Ms. Knipe.

I absolutely appreciate my staff and administration at Ft. Madison Middle School. We work together to bring out the best in our students.  We care about their education, but many of the staff go above and beyond to ensure our student’s physical and emotional needs are met, first. My children have received a quality education and have enjoyed participating in the wide variety of activities we offer at Ft. Madison Community School District. Go Bloodhounds!
