Meet Denise Trout – Richardson Elementary

Denise Trout is a first grade teacher at Richardson Elementary. Originally, Ms. Trout is from LaHarpe, Illinois. She attended Western Illinois University to get her degree in Elementary Education. Ms. Trout has taught at Fort Madison Community School District for seventeen years. She said that going back to school to become a teacher, after her kids were born, was the best decision she’s ever made.

In Ms. Trout’s free time she enjoys shopping, spending time with friends and family, and watching the Chicago Cubs. Additionally, she enjoys reading The Magic Treehouse and Junie B. Jones series to her students during milk and snack. Even though Ms. Trout has a lot of favorite movies, with her love of sports, her all-time favorite is The Blind Side. Also, her favorite t.v. show is Friends. Something you may not know about Ms. Trout is that she used to play college basketball.

Ms. Trout reviews the “ABC’s” with her students!

Currently in her classroom, the students are doing close reads on The Most Magnificent Thing & The Little Red Pen. Students will be making their own magnificent thing, while making these creations students will learn about habits of character. Ms. Trout’s classroom is also learning how to code beebots and utilizing the STEAMhound station, thanks to Richardson PTO. Ms. Trout is on the Computer Science Leadership team.

Ms. Trout works in small groups with her students!

My goal is to integrate computer science more into our curriculum! I also want to build relationships with all of my students and push them to be the best they can be!
