Meet Jeff Gerdes – Fort Madison High School

Jeff Gerdes is the automotive technologies instructor at the Fort Madison High School. Mr. Gerdes attended Iowa State University, as well as an art school in Texas. Originally, Jeff Gerdes is from Fort Madison, IA. He previously worked at Shottenkirk Automotive.

In his free time, Mr. Gerdes enjoys going to MLB (Major League Baseball) games, live concerts, and traveling. His favorite movie is Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Additionally, his favorite t.v. show is Chicago P.D. Mr. Gerdes’s favorite food is fresh seafood.

Currently in his classroom, the students are preparing to perform oil changes/tire rotations and disassembling Internal Combustion Engines. Also, Mr. Gerdes’s goal for his students is to provide them with as many opportunities as possible to get hands on automotive experience. 

Favorite Thing About Your Job/District?

The improvement that I get to see in a student from the beginning of a class to the very end of the trimester.
