Return to Learn Update 11/24/2020

The Fort Madison Community School District staff and students will return to 100% face to face learning on 12/1. This is the model the board voted on effective November 2 – December 23rd.

The school board, administration, and nursing staff will continue to monitor the staff, student and community data daily and will communicate with families with any necessary shifts  Any necessary shifts would be based upon the following data:  

  • county positivity rates
  • staff absenteeism rates
  • student absenteeism rates.  

These are the same data points used throughout the state for schools’ learning models.

All previously implemented cleaning and mask protocols as well as mitigation expectations remain in place.  

Important Reminder

Please do not send students to school if they are ill or a member of the household is ill and being tested.  Please practice CDC recommended guidelines for mask wearing and washing hands.

Staff & Student Masks – Required:

○ In classrooms when physical distancing (6 feet) is not possible.
○ Hallways at all times.
○ Lunch lines when physical distancing (6 feet) is not possible.
○ Bus stops and on buses.

Staff & Student Face Masks Are Highly Recommended When:

○ In classrooms even when physical distancing (6 feet) can be
○ Recess (grades K-5)

The FMCSD will continue to communicate with families as we work together to continue to provide learning while practicing health and safety guidelines.
