Jenny Herriman is an English/Language Arts teacher for fourth graders at the Fort Madison Middle School. Originally, Ms. Herriman is from Dallas City, Illinois. She attended Iowa Wesleyan College and Walden University. Ms. Herriman has a B.A. in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education. Also, she has a M.S. K-6 Reading and Literacy degree.

In her free time, Ms. Herriman enjoys spending time with her family. Ms. Herriman and her husband have two daughters, one son-in-law and two little grandsons. Additionally, they enjoy going fishing and sitting on the deck watching the animals in our yard. Ms. Herriman cannot pick a favorite book, however her favorite author is Jodi Picoult. Also, her favorite movie The Breakfast Club. Ms. Herriman enjoys all genres of music.

Currently in her classroom, fourth graders are using informational text to research animals defense mechanisms. The students are also learning to find the main idea with supporting details, paraphrase, and summarize what they have read. Ms. Herriman’s goal for her students is to instill a love of reading. She hopes that the students will make connections to the books that we read together or books that I recommend for them to read independently.
