FMCSD Update 12/22/2020

As we prepare for winter break, we wanted to take a moment to provide you with a learning update.

Return to Learn:  The FMCSD Board of Directors approved a Return to Learn model of 100% Face to Face after winter break.  Winter break is December 24- January 3, 2021.  School resumes on Monday, January 4, 2021.  Data from county positivity rates combined with staff and student absenteeism rates will continue to be monitored when school resumes.

Snow Days:  Snow days in the FMCSD will look different this year.  The Iowa Department of Education has allowed school districts to replace snow days with virtual learning.  Therefore, if the FMCSD is unable to get our students safely to school, learning for the day will be moved to 100% REQUIRED virtual learning.

Students will be expected to participate in the required learning activities assigned that day.  Students will have access to their regular teacher(s) during the day via Canvas, SeeSaw, Google Meets/Hangouts and email from 9:00-12:00 and 1:00-3:00 PM.  Remote meals will not be provided during inclement weather days.

This is one of the many reasons why students will continue to take their FMCSD learning devices home with them each night and weekend.  Even in 100% face to face learning, students can still have access to learning opportunities in the evenings and weekends.

Holiday Wishes:  The FMCSD wishes all of our families a safe and healthy holiday!
