Fort Madison High School showcases the new County Seat made by our very own welding teacher, Mr. Bolander. The County Seat is based on our local rivalry with Keokuk High School’s football team. Previously, the seat was made of wood and could not be sat on.
After this year’s homecoming football game, Fort Madison High School’s football team won the chair back. However, it was soon realized that the chair was no longer in “good shape” to be continually traded. Mr. Bolander, a welding teacher at FMHS, and his team began designing what the new county seat should look like.
Mr. Bolander said that the design aspect of the chair took the longest amount of time for the project. The the powder coat was donated from the Gregory Manufacturing Co. Now, the chair will last a lifetime and is able to be sat on! Additionally, Head Football Coach Derek Doherty and some of his players, with their new jerseys on, check out the new chair.
