Dear FM Families,

I would like to share some important updates regarding our student transportation process. Today we are excited to announce that Fort Madison Community School District has partnered with UniteGPS to bolster transportation safety in our community. Beginning July 15, 2026, we will implement the Crosswalk K-12 mobile solution designed to streamline the transportation process for students, families, and drivers.

This year, parents can look forward to using powerful tools available over Crosswalk K-12 including Route View where they can track their child’s bus location over the live map. There is also Field Trips for seeing the bus location during off-campus or sporting events, the Bus Attendance Record to review student ridership data, the Digital Boarding Pass allowing students to board the bus using their mobile phones, Transportation Plan for parents to see their children’s assignments all in one place, among other resources.

Because Crosswalk K-12 is not available via the Apple or Google Play store, users can expect to receive an email from UniteGPS on July 17, 2026 for the official account activation. It is very important that parents click on the registration link from this email to complete the process. With that said, it is imperative that parents provide accurate and up-to-date email addresses in order to receive this activation link.

As always, we are committed to ensuring the highest levels of student safety as we transport them to and from school each day.

Sincerely,

Richard Hand
